I'm Going Fully Raw For 21 Days!

I received a sign from the universe last week. I finally bought a juicer and then saw an ad on Facebook for a 21-day raw vegan challenge with Kristina Carrillo-Bucaram. If you don't know Kristina, she is the creator of Fullyraw.com and runs a popular co-op in Houston Texas. She has been on a raw vegan diet for over ten years. I have been watching her youtube videos for about six years.

As you all know, I have flirted with the idea of trying a raw vegan diet, but social pressure and fear have turned me away time and time again. I really do believe in this way of living because when I eat raw, even for a half a day, I can feel the difference and I feel amazing!

Raw foods have tons of nutrients, minerals, and enzymes that stay in their natural form which makes it easy for the body to absorb. Mental clarity, better sleep, and more energy are just a few things raw foodists claim you'll gain when eating this way.

I have been very interested in this way of eating for years, and I have decided just to dive in and see what happens. I may not be perfect, and it might be a rocky road, but I want to try this. Do I believe in a 100% raw food diet all the time? Not really . . . Because I feel like we do need some warm food from time to time. I also think you should not completely deprive yourself if you have a craving. But I do believe that eating mostly raw is a great way to stay healthy and happy.

I currently suffer from horrible acid reflux, irregular periods and have about 70 lbs I would like to lose. I do not think raw foods are going to be a quick fix, but I do believe they can and will help my body heal.

I am nervous about this challenge . . . Wondering if I will be able to eat enough or if I will crave junk and give in. I am concerned that raw foods may make my acid reflux worse, but I won't know until I try. As a vegan already, I believe in the healing power of plants, I am just nervous about not cooking them. It's just something new, and there will be a learning curve.

Included with this challenge is an invite to a private Facebook page with people who are also doing this and I can already tell it is going to be very helpful to have some support. People on the page also seem very knowledgeable about raw foods. Some of them have already eaten this way.

This is something I need right now in my life so here goes nothing!! I am going to be posting daily on my Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram accounts showing you all what I am eating and letting you know how it is going if you're interested in following my journey.

If you are someone who is interested in raw foods, you can find a link to the challenge here. It starts next weekend, so it's not too late to sign up!

As always, follow me on social media to stay connected and I'll talk to you all soon!
