That time of year... and a fresh start!
It’s officially 2017, and it’s the time when most of us make our new year’s resolutions… To lose weight, to get out of a toxic relationship, to find that perfect job, to take more time for ourselves and to just be happier in general. The problem with resolutions is that it takes a lot more than just a simple statement on new year's eve to make those big changes happen. It takes a change in mindset and our daily habits to create big shifts in our lives.
Most of the time we are not ready for change because that means we have to get out of our comfort zones. The most popular resolution comes as no surprise. Every year we make a vow to ourselves that we are going to drop those extra 20 pounds by spring. Spring turns into summer. Summer turns into fall. Fall turns into winter. And around and around it goes. EVERY YEAR.
I say that same thing. To be honest, I make weekly resolutions. This is going to be the week. I am going to food prep and eat healthy. This weight will be off by spring, by summer, by fall, by winter.
Now don’t get me wrong, I believe 2017 is full of new opportunities and second chances. But I have decided not to push or force change. I have decided to let myself off the hook. My life hasn’t played out the way I wanted it to, but it has played out the way it was meant to. And it will continue to do so. Making resolutions is not going to change what is meant to be for me. I am making a promise to slow down, be thankful, and love myself more deeply than ever before. One of my goals is to be serious about getting more raw foods into my diet because that is when I feel my best. But I no longer want to hate or shame myself when things don’t work out perfectly.
This is a new year and new opportunity for more love, more inspiration, more positivity and more of anything our hearts desire.
